He was the Pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conroe for 19 years. Upon retiring, Msgr. Kennedy remained active in ministry by serving in the prison ministry, celebrating mass, and working in the RCIA program at St Joseph Catholic Church in New Waverly. He served the Diocese for 60 years.
Msgr. Kennedy was born on May 10, 1929 to Florence and Bertha Kennedy in Cincinnati Ohio.
He was preceded in Death by his sister Emma Jeanne Dunn and her husband Thomas F. Dunn III, brother Thomas E. Kennedy, and sister Mary Louise Nyquist and her husband Col. Charles W. Nyquist.
Msgr. Kennedy is survived by his brother Daniel C. Kennedy and brother, Terence P. Kennedy and his wife Annie M. Kennedy, and sisters-in-law Burnnie Kennedy and Patricia Kennedy, and a multitude of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Msgr. Kennedy graduated from St Thomas High School in 1946. He then entered St Mary’s Seminary and was ordained to the priesthood on May 30, 1953. He was sent by the Diocese to Catholic University of America and obtained a degree in Canon Law of the Catholic Church and worked in the diocese as the Defender of the Bond for the Marriage Tribunal for the church.
He was dearly loved by the parishioners wherever he was assigned over the years.
He enjoyed many hobbies, playing classical guitar, fishing, playing golf, building and flying model airplanes.
Msgr. Kennedy was deeply committed to his faith and was greatly admired for his preaching ability.
He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. When in Rome, he con-celebrated mass with Pope John Paul II and other members of the clergy.
The laity of all the churches he served truly loved him. He had the most joyous & sparkling attitudes toward the people he ministered to. He won the hearts of many and touched so many lives. His compassion & encouragement made a difference in so many lives. Msgr. Kennedy continued with his generosity, even in death. He has donated his body to science for future generations.
