Richard was born August 19, 1923 to Marshall Elcaniy Hedrick and Susie Anna Winebarger of Catawba County.
In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Hedrick and Marshall Junior Hedrick; and sisters, Willie Ekard, Ruby Sipe, and Josephine Hedrick.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ruby Lail Hedrick; daughters, Diane Van Horn and husband, James, of Conover, and Judy Stephens and husband, Rick, of Hickory; sisters, Betty Hedrick of Conover, and Catherine Fox and husband, Clyde, of Conover; grandchildren, Jason Van Horn, Shawn Van Horn, Ashley Stephens, and Jamie Stephens; and great-grandchildren, Brandon Van Horn, and Bryson Van Horn.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Catawba Memorial Park. Reverend Paul Birner will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Drum Funeral Home in Conover from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m.
