Raymond “Duane” Cozzen, age 73, of Claremont, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Duane was born on Wednesday, November 8, 1950 in Rowan, North Carolina to the late Jack Duane Cozzen and Delpha Parks Cozzen.
In addition to his parents, Duane was preceded in death by stepson, Christopher Acker and brother, Anthony “Tony” Cozzen.
Duane was a beloved son, husband, father, uncle, and friend. He retired from the Claremont Police Department as a Sergeant after 30 years of service. He was then asked to be the Chief for the Town of Catawba for 2 ½ years. Duane was an author, purveyor of music, and had a love for all things Sci-Fi and Sherlock Holmes. His first love had always been radio. He was the owner and operator of his own online radio station, Super Classic Radio; which will be one of his biggest legacies. Duane and Ramona were owners of Ageless Treasures Antiques, LLC in Conover, NC. Duane truly was a jack-of-all-trades and a master at most. Duane will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Duane’s memory are his wife of 28 years, Ramona Cozzen; daughters, Brianna Cozzen (Adam Root), Cassandra Cozzen; stepson, Roger Acker; sister, Cindy Cline (Gary); sister in law, Dianne Beil; niece, Sabrina Basinger; nephew, David Cline; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Duane will be Monday, April 8, at Claremont Fire Department, 2850 Fire House Lane, Claremont from 5:00-7:00 pm.
