Rachel was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her long fruitful life was packed with seemingly endless energy that exemplified the woman of Proverbs 31. Some of her many attributes included being the oldest living member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, and a member of the The Women of the ELCA, the XYZ Club, the Madhatters and the Quilters. She was an avid gardener, an excellent seamstress and cook, and a crafter of crocheted items and basket weaving. She had a special gift of crafting beautiful fabric angels, each unique in their own special way. After moving from her home of 72 years to her new home in assisted living at Trinity Village in Hickory, she continued her zest for life by being actively involved in most of the weekly activities at the facility and made many new friends.
The Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Conover, with the Rev. Scott Bollinger and Rev. Robert Shoffner officiating.
