In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by her husband of 40 plus years, Glenn Heavner; brother, Glenn Smith; and sister, Mary Sue Whitener.
Rachel was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She kept her family together and never gave up on them. Rached retired from Ridgeview Quality Control. She loved to be outside tending her garden and driving the tractor.
Those left to cherish Rachel’s memory are daughters, Patty Little, Debra Hefner, Penny Miller (Ronnie); brothers, Donald Smith, Jimmy Smith; brother-in-law, Gene Whitener; sister, Deanie Isenhour; sister-in-law, Betty Smith; grandchildren, Christian Thomas, William Miller, Connie Miller; great grandchildren, Wesley Shook, Andrew Hefner (Ginni), Christopher Thomas; and six great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10am to 10:45am at Grace Lutheran Church, 4536 Hickory Lincolnton Hwy, Newton, NC 28658.
A funeral service for Rachel will be held at 11am on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Josh Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
