Mary Ann (Drum) Fisher

Mary Ann Drum Fisher, 90, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving husband, family and loved ones. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

Mary Ann was born on March 1, 1933 in Newton, NC to the late Harley and Elsie Drum. She graduated from Newton Conover High School and married her high school sweetheart, Harold Eugene Fisher on July 4, 1951.

Married to Harold for 71 years, Mary Ann was a devout Christian who stood strong in her faith with her Lord. She served many positions in her lifetime at her church, North Newton Baptist, where she was a member for 60 years.

Mary Ann was a loving mother to her children, a friend to many, with always a smile and never a complaint. She loved spending time with everyone and was a world traveler, visiting all 50 US states and over 60 foreign countries. Always there to help anyone in need, she will greatly be missed.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her youngest sister, Linda Drum Wood and her daughter, Pamela Fisher Cato.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Harold Eugene Fisher, of the home; sister, Kay Drum Sigmon; sons, Randy Eugene Fisher (Cindy) and Ricky Dean Fisher (Scherel); son in law, Ronald Cato; six grandchildren, Leslie Fisher Moore, Christopher Fisher, Brett Cato , Preston Fisher, Wesley Fisher, Trevor Fisher; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many loving family and friends. A very special thanks to her caregiver, Hollie Nelson.

Receiving for Mary Ann will be held from 9am-9:45am on Monday, March 13, 2023 at North Newton Baptist Church, 316 W 21st St, Newton, NC 28658.

A Service to Celebrate Mary Ann’s life will follow at 10am at North Newton Baptist Church with Pastor Curtis Hagler officiating. Burial will held at Catawba Memorial Park, 3060 US Hwy 70 SE, Hickory, NC 28602 after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to North Newton Baptist Church, 316 W 21st St, Newton, NC 28658 or to Carolina Caring-Catawba Valley Hospice House, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
