Betty Jeanne Sigmon, 96, after a long and blessed life, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Terra Bella Assisted Living in Cramerton, NC. Betty was born on Friday, September 3, 1926 in Hickory NC to the late George L. Sigmon and Mildred Gantt Sigmon.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, George Connelly Sigmon; granddaughter Ashley Miller and great granddaughter Courtney Miller.
Survivors include daughter, Carol Holder and husband Buz; grandson Chad Holder and wife Marie; great grandchildren, Ashlyn Holder whom Nana Betty referred to as her little sunshine, Caitlyn Miller and great-great grandchild Lailani.
Betty was a charter member of A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church, Charlotte. She was an active member in all aspects of her beloved church and cherished her church family. Nana Betty, as she was loving called by her family, was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Betty enjoyed reading, working word search puzzles, growing orchids and other flowers. She was described as having a wonderful disposition. She had such a loving, caring and a positive outlook on life. Always having a smile and kind words for every person she met. Nana Betty was the happiest when she was with her beloved family, her Chihuahua dogs, and cat Mia.
Special thanks to her wonderful longtime neighbor and dear friend Jean Rushing; her devoted and caring hairdresser Dottie; and Jean, her dining room buddy. The family will always be so thankful for her new family at Terra Bella who love, supported and showed so much compassion to her.
Betty’s service to celebrate her life will be held at 11am on Saturday, June 3 at A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church with Pastor Molly Kuekes officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10am to 10:45am prior to the service.
Burial will be held at 2pm following the service at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, 3505 E. Main St, Claremont, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church, 8200 McClure Circle, Charlotte, NC 28216 or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Lincoln County, 900 Donita Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
