Helen M. Murray, 85, of Rushville and formerly of Glenwood, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. Helen was born January 28, 1927 in Laurel, the oldest of twelve children of Alex and Enno Moon Cregar and attended school in Franklin County. She was a great cook and had been employed at several area restaurants. She had also worked as a nurse’s aide. Helen enjoyed singing, dancing and had collected ceramic clowns. Helen spent her life helping others and had helped raise many children. Helen is survived by a granddaughter: Jo Ann Robinson of Rushville; a great-grandson: Samuel Robinson of Rushville; three sisters and their spouses: Betty St. John and Robert of Rushville; Ruth Glenn of Laurel; Nancy Robinson and Leon of Connersville; three brothers and their spouses: Alex Cregar and Carolyn of Laurel; John Cregar of Greensburg; Howard Cregar and Nora Jean of Laurel; five step-sons: Bobby Joe Murray of Louisville; James Murray, Gary Murray and his wife Annie, Frankie Murray and Randal Murray all of East Bernstadt, Kentucky; many special friends including: Euphemia Estes and Paul Crabtree of Milroy; Kevin and Jamie Mason of Rushville: several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband Sherman R. Murray who died January 5, 2007; daughter: Brenda “Susie” McClure; infant grandson: Rondal “Bimbo” Polley; one brother and four sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in Laurel North Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
