Floene Rose

Floene Rose, 86, of Connersville, was called home to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, December 25 2019, at 4:34 a.m. at Reid Healthcare in Richmond surrounded by her family. She was born on October 5, 1933 near Stockton, California, to James W. Fields and Bonnie Venable Fields Todd. She was formerly married to the late Vester Rose, with whom she had a son, Vester Ray “Spunky” Rose. Floene graduated from Richard Weston Beauty School where she earned her beautician license. She was the owner and operator of the Brown Derby Bar. Floene later went on to waitress and cook at many restaurants and nursing homes in the area, including Hueston Woods Lodge, truck stops one and three, Eagles #1065, Arbor Trace, and Hickory Creek. In her free time, she loved to spend time with her family and her cats, she enjoyed traveling every chance she got, she was an avid yard seller and thrift shop patron, and she was an excellent cook who prepared many meals for her family. She attended 29th street church of God in Connersville for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents, stepfather: Edward Todd, a sister: Opal Jean Fields who died in childhood, and a brother Herbert Raymond Fields. Floene is survived by her son, Vester R. “Spunk” Rose, grandchildren: Angel Rose, Sean Rose, Jodie Pyles of Rushville, and Josh Williams; great grandchildren, Treasure, Trinitee, Jarrett, Timmy, Santana, Morgan, and Jacob; a daughter-in-law Charlotte “Lucy” Smoker Rose; a sister-in-law. Shirley Meyer Fields; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Bud Parrish officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 to 2 p,m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, where memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana
