Dennis L. Coyle

Dennis L. Coyle, 80 of Congers, NY passed away peacefully on February 12, 2017. He was born to Mr. & Mrs. Harry M. Coyle on June 28, 1936. Dennis was the oldest of five brothers who grew up on Main Street in New City, NY. He obtained the rank of Eagle Scout in 1952. As a scout he was awarded membership in the Order of the Arrow, scouting’s highest honor. Dennis graduated Congers High School in 1954 and proudly marched as the drum major of the New City Junior American Legion Band winning the State Championship in 1953 and 1954. Enlisting in the Army, Dennis attended basic training at Fort Dix, NJ. He proved to be an outstanding marksman and he was appointed to Officers Candidate School in Fort Benning, GA. Graduating OCS he served as a First Lieutenant and Platoon Leader with the Second Division in Fort Richardson, Alaska.Dennis attended the Travelers School of Multiple Lines Agents in Hartford, CT and founded the Dennis L. Coyle Real Estate and Insurance Agency, presently the Coyle Insurance Agency Inc. located in Congers, NY. Appointed to the Board of Directors of Provident Savings & Loan in 1984, Dennis served on the board for twenty eight years. He served as Vice Chairman of the Board up until the merger of Provident Bank with Sterling National Bank in 2013.

Dennis is survived by his wife Else, children Sharon Weston of Byfield, MA, Michael and wife Anna of Congers, Stephen and wife Renata of Congers, and grandchildren Daniel, Cameron, Harry, Andrew, Jessica, Darren and Jacqueline.

Funeral Arrangements are as follows: Visitation on Friday February 17th 2017 from 2 – 4pm and 7 – 9pm at the St. John’s Episcopal Church, 365 Strawtown Road, New City, NY 10956. The Rite of Christian Burial at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, February 18th at 11am.
