He was a devoted husband, father, and a friend to all whose lives he touched. He left us at the age of eighty-four. Born in Brooklyn, New York on October 26, 1938, he was the son of Andrew Rinaldi and Italia Sica Rinaldi. He met his loving wife Mary in 1961 on a blind date. They married two years later and moved to New City, N.Y. where he and Mary went on to raise their dear son Alex. They were together 57 years before Mary passed in 2020.
Alex dedicated his career to the Clarkstown Highway Department for 35 years before retiring in November, 2002.He learned quickly that he was not ready for full retirement, so he came out of retirement and went to work for the Clarkstown Central School District Transportation Department part time until he retired again"for good" in June, 2010.
Alex lived a full life as a devoted Catholic. He recently moved to Massachusetts with his son and daughter in-law where he enjoyed his New England clam "chowda" on Friday nights and his Tuesday afternoon Bingo at the local Senior Center. He also recently became a football fan and enjoyed watching the Patriots on Sunday afternoons.
Alex is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Alex and Lynette Rinaldi. He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
On Saturday, February 18th, all are welcome to attend a Funeral Mass, which will be celebrated at Church of St. Augustine, 140 Maple Avenue, New City, N.Y. followed by the burial at St. Anthony's cemetery in Nanuet, NY.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MJHigginsCongers.com for the Rinaldi family.
