He was born on April 8, 1912 in Passadumkeag, ME, the son of Harry and Elsie (Dinsmore) Squiers.
He graduated from Howland High School and Gates Business College in Maine. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and was stationed in England, France and Germany. Until his retirement in 1972, he worked for the Internal Revenue Service . In 1977 he relocated to New Hampshire from Portland, Maine and he and his wife have lived at Havenwood for the last twenty two years.
He was a member of the Epsom Snowmobile Club and a member of the South Congregational Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kermit's hobby was woodworking and making beautiful gifts for family and friends. He also loved walking and until recently walked 4 miles a day. He was an active participant in many activities at Havenwood, making many friends with residents and those that worked there. His family is very grateful for all the loving care shown to him by Havenwood staff.
He was predeceased by his brother, Wayne Squiers. Survivors include his wife, Mildred of Concord, with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage last Christmas Eve; two daughters Mary Rosenthall and her husband Louis of Concord and Patricia Visco and her husband Paul of Laconia; his brother Thomas S. Squiers of Hallowell, Maine; a sister Winifred Kimball of Augusta, Maine; six grandchildren: Charles Rosenthall and his wife Nicki of Manchester, Jennifer Fennelly and her husband Adam of Concord, Sarah Sloper and her husband Robert of Manchester, Melissa Rosenthall of Melbourne, Australia, Steven Visco and his wife Anna of Orono, Maine and Jeffery Visco of Stoughton, Massachusetts; seven great grandchildren, Louis and Jack Rosenthall, William Sloper, Adam (AJ), Tyler and Katelyn Fennelly and Thomas Visco; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 11am at South Congregational Church, 27 Pleasant Street, Concord. Interment will take place at 2 pm at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
The Bennett Funeral Home of Concord is in charge of the arrangements.
