Jim spent a lifetime helping build roads for the State of N.H. and for years Jim and his wife Carolyn were actively involved with fundraising for the Concord Boys Club and YMCA.
Jim was so proud that his grandfather; Shammy Angwin helped start White Park’s oldest ‘after dinner’ baseball league in America. Jims was an umpire in the league and for several years a sponsor of the “Burney Sports” team which always brings past players a smile to their face.
Jim was president of the local American Boys and Girls Little League, an umpire, and actively involved with N. H. International Association of Approved Basketball Officials where he officiated young kids, state high school championships, and local men’s leagues.
Jim’s wife passed away from early Alzheimer’s disease four years ago. He is survived by his sister, Carol Chestnut and husband David, of South Carolina, his brother Jay Burney and wife Jonna of Buffalo, New York, daughter LeighAnn and husband Sean Bauer of Barrington, NH, along with his son Mike Burney of Bedford, NH. He cherished his four adventurous grandchildren, Ryan, Drew, Aidan and Hannah.
