George grew up in Pittsfield and Northwood, NH. He graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1975 and went on to work at Rumford Press and Edgcomb Steel. Retired for a number of years now, George spent as much time as he could doing what he loved: going to “the lake”, boating, fishing, hunting, forever trying to convince his daughter to not be a vegetarian, camping, having selective hearing with his very patient wife, sitting fireside, telling stories, reminiscing about the wild younger years, and laughing to the point of tears with family, friends, and his yellow lab George.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, LuAnn, and their children, Morgen and Chiara; his sisters & their spouses, Sandy & Chuck Seamans, Susan & Wayne Burt, Laurie & Lanny Bradley, and Diney Newell; his nephew, Dave Chapman; his lifelong friends, Pete & Pauline Lank, Ed & Judy Burke, Brian Drew, and Nelson Ordway; and countless other family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by George Chapman Sr, Nancy Chapman (sister), Michael Drew (nephew), and John Newell (brother).
Calling hours will be held Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N Main St, Concord, NH.
The Chapman family wishes to thank all their family and friends for the incredible support they’ve received during this time.
With George’s love of dogs in mind, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Pope Memorial SPCA of Concord-Merrimack County: www.pmspca.org.
