Eleanor Marie Power, age 96, of Boise, Idaho passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024. Born on August 10, 1927 in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late James Francis and Florence Elizabeth (Boyd) Russell.
Eleanor grew up in Roxbury, MA and was educated in the Boston Catholic Schools. She attended Boston State College and started working at New England Telephone Company until she became married to John Irving Power where she devoted her life to caring for her family. Eleanor was the glue that held her family together and the one that kept all her children’s lives intertwined. After the passing of her husband in 1986, she spent many years becoming a world traveler. She was an avid gardener and reader, excellent cook, and communicant of The Monastery of the Ascension in Jerome, Idaho.
She is survived by her sons Stephen Power and wife Karen of Contoocook, NH, Clifton Power and wife Ellen of Belfast, ME, John Power and wife Cathy of Warsaw, Poland; daughter Joan Paine of Boise, ID; sister Dorothy Phinney of Blackstone, MA; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years John Irving Power, son Gary Power, Son-in-law Clifford Paine, 3 sisters, and 6 brothers.
A visitation for Eleanor will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N Main St, Concord, NH; following a chapel service from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A burial will occur Friday, March 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne, MA.
