He was born in Manchester, NH on June 24, 1923 to Joseph A. and Marie E. (Lachance) Grenier. He grew up and attended schools in Epsom, NH. Ed joined the National Youth Administration in the late 1930’s before joining the Army Air force in 1941. He achieved the rank of Master Sergeant while serving in the Pacific Theater of Operation for the entire duration of World War II.
After his return home, he married his cherished wife Phyllis and settled in Concord to raise his family. He was a hard worker; a master craftsman who worked at Concord Lumber Co. for 42 years.
Ed was a member of Bow Grange, Pineconia Grange and the National Grange. He also held membership in the American Legion. A favorite hobby when he was younger was working with train sets with his son.
He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Phyllis M. (Chapman) Grenier; his parents; an infant sister; and his brothers George Hadley and Joseph Grenier.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses; Theresa and Robert Estabrook of Concord; Lorraine and Brent Palmer of Bow and Edwin G., Jr. and Rita Grenier of Bradford; six grandchildren, Kristen, Thomas and Jeffrey Estabrook; Nathan and Glenn Palmer; and Jessica Grenier; three great grandchildren, Ashley Palmer-Gaskell and Brady and Gavin Palmer; sister and brother-in-law Helen and Bob Prescott and Paul and Pat Whitcomb; many nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
There are no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main Street, Concord, on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 1pm. Interment will be held following the service at Millville Cemetery in Concord.
