PENACOOK-Christopher Wentworth Foley passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the CRVNA Hospice House on Sunday, September 24, 2017. Chris was born on August 5, 1978 in Concord, NH to James and Debra Foley. He attended school in the Concord School District, graduating from Concord High School in 1997. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Studies from Plymouth State University in 2002, earned a Masters in Educational Leadership in 2007, and had continued his studies at PSU working towards his CAGS and Superintendent Certification.
Chris was born into a family of educators and dedicated himself to this profession. He began his teaching career in 2002 at Rundlett Middle School in Concord, where he taught 6th grade reading, math, and social studies. After earning his advanced degree, he went on to become assistant principal at Rochester Middle School from 2007-2010. From 2010-2013, Chris was the principal of William Allen Elementary School, also in Rochester. In the fall of 2013, he became the principal of Penacook Elementary School.
Chris was a passionate sports fan, always cheering for the home team no matter the sport. His admiration of the New England Patriots and the leadership of Coach Belichick is well established. His love of sports began when he was young, playing youth soccer, basketball, and baseball. He was a member of Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams. In high school, he was a catcher for the Concord High School baseball team. Many of the lifelong friendships that Chris developed had their roots in Concord youth athletics. His love of sports led him into coaching. While teaching at Rundlett Middle School, he coached the girls’ and boys’ soccer and basketball teams. During the summer of 2002, he was an assistant coach for the Babe Ruth Big Blue baseball team, which finished third in the nation at the 18 year-old Babe Ruth World Series. From 2002-2004, Chris coached the Babe Ruth Little Blue team, leading them to the 16 year-old Babe Ruth World Series. Chris was an assistant for the Concord High School baseball team from 2002-2005 and an assistant coach of the Merrimack Valley High School baseball team in 2006. During the summers of 2004-2006, Chris was the general manager of the Concord Quarry Dogs, a member of the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
Most important to Chris was his family. He was a loving husband and father. He married Lindsey Inman on July 11, 2009. Chris and Lindsey have three beautiful children: Elizabeth Debra, age 5, Camden Edward, age 2, and William Christopher, age 4 weeks. Chris is also survived by his father, James Foley of Concord; his sister, Meghan Foley of Manchester; his grandmother, Joan Wentworth of Concord; aunts and uncles, Steve and Carole Wentworth of Exeter, John and Donna Wentworth of Manchester; father and mother in-law, Bill and Beth Inman of Webster; sister in-law, Catherine Masterson and husband Kyle of New Hampton; cousins, Benjamin Wentworth of Exeter, Katelyn and Anna Wentworth of Manchester; nieces and nephews, Amelia and Myles Cicirelli of Manchester, Carter, Ethan, and Quinn Masterson of New Hampton. Chris is predeceased by his mother, Debra Wentworth Foley; grandfather, Red Wentworth and sister in-law, Andrea Cicirelli.
Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 4 to 8pm at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main St., Concord NH. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:15am on Sunday, October 1st, at the Concord Capitol Center for the Arts. Bowties and/or Patriots gear is encouraged. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lindsey Foley in care of William Inman, 1467 Battle Street Webster, NH 03303. Any donations received will be added to funds that have been generously raised through the You Caring website and will be used for the future education of the Foley children.
