Anne (Whiting) Wakefield (88), Belmont, NH peacefully passed away October 24, 2024, at the St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center under the loving care of their team. Anne is predeceased by her husband of 65 years Arthur and daughter Gloria (Malcolm).
She was born December 31, 1935, to parents Roland G. (Jim) Whiting and Hazel M. (MacKenzie) in South Tamworth, NH where she grew up with six other siblings. She graduated from Kennett High School in 1953 and married Arthur later the same year, residing in Moultonborough, NH for over 30 years Belmont nearly 40 years, spending most winters for 25 years in Bradenton, FL.
As if raising six children was not enough, Anne ran a home-based bakery in Moultonborough, was the Food Service Director for the Moultonborough School District for many years, and a bank teller at First Deposit in Belmont, NH.
Anne was active in both Belmont New Hampshire and Golf Lakes Florida communities but was best known for her delicious cooking, especially her whoopie pies, baked goods and Christmas chocolates. She was a people lover and leaves a second large special family of dear friends, many nieces and nephews. She was a very competitive person and enjoyed playing cards, all board games, working puzzles (both jigsaw and word) and was an Atari Master.
She leaves behind five children – Marilyn Pollman; Dennis (Bonnie) Wakefield, Gary (Theresa) Wakefield, Gail Wakefield, and John (Mary) Wakefield; ten grandchildren – Melissa (Reed) Johnson, Ben (Halley) Wakefield, Caitlin (Matt) Connellan, Garrett (Ashley) Pollman, Olivia (Sean) Wakefield, Emma (Tom) Hurley, Christi (Sophia) Wakefield, Meredith Wakefield, Trevor (Charlotte) Wakefield, Brian (Dristee) Wakefield; eleven great grandchildren – Tarynn, Tucker, Katurah, Avery, Emerson, Penny, Spencer and Abbie, Herbert, Caius and Liara.
Anne’s family would like to give special thanks to every member of the St. Francis staff. She loved them and they loved her too.
