Todd was born May 3, 1963 in Columbus to Leonard Baker, who preceded him in death, and Pat (Mckenna) Donato, who survives. He was a 1981 graduate of Newark High School where he played football. He was a HVAC technician and learned this trade while in the United States Air Force. Todd’s life was impacted, arguably for the better, by a diving accident in Hilton Head nearly 20 years ago that left him a quadriplegic. Since then he has never complained and in fact inspired many people, some of whom did not even know him. He was strong in his faith, had a positive attitude and made people feel comfortable. He was patient, communicative, intuitive and detail oriented. He loved The Ohio State Buckeyes and when it came to sweets, he especially loved Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by siblings Timothy D. (Michelle) Baker, Trevert H. Baker, Brian (Julie) Donato and Andrea (Julie) Donato; grandmother Virginia Jackson; god parents Clayton and Goldie Trager; aunt Kitty (Jeff) Klotz as well as numerous friends and relatives in Newark.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step father Tony Donato in 2010, his paternal grandfather and maternal grandparents.
A memorial service will be held September 25, 2015 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. at 1 PM with Rev. William Rauch officiating. Friends may visit one hour after the service to share memories of Todd. In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages contributions may be made to Creative Living, Inc., which had a great impact on Todd’s independent lifestyle, at 150 W. 10th Ave., Columbus 43201.
