Stephen P. Speaks, 70, of Gahanna, Ohio passed away peacefully on February 9, 2021 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. He was born July 3, 1950 in Springfield, Ohio to Joseph and Helen (Copple) Speaks. Steve attended Central Springfield Catholic High School, Columbus State, The Ohio State University and Ohio University. He was an active member of the Moose and retired from Executive Jet where he served as the head of the Avionico Dept. He was active in his church, First United Brethren and The Columbus Cocker Rescue Organization. Steve was always there for his family and friends, he will be greatly missed.
Steve is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Mindy Speaks; grandchildren Zachariah Sharp, Haley Scott, Allissa Speaks and Tiffany Smyers; his sister, Patty Oswalt; his brother, Tom Speaks; great-grandchildren, James Graves III, Oliver Lewis, Odin Lyons and Knova Lyons, as well as his best friend and significant other, Sandy Meurer and his beloved cocker spaniel, Darcey. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debby Speaks. Private cremation entrusted to Schoedinger Northeast.
