Jancy’s father’s union organizing work took the family around the country from Tennessee to Texas, Chapel Hill, North Carolina and West Virginia. Her mother had roots in Georgia. She attended Oberlin University (1964) and Boston University (1970) and served as a public health advisor with the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. She remained politically active, frequently speaking out in letters to the editor and to government officials, and was a beloved member of her communities in the Morningside neighborhood of Atlanta and in North Georgia.
Jancy will be greatly missed by her husband Joseph Taylor Davis; stepdaughters Mary Davis, Harriet Davis Kerr (Robert); grandson Daniel Fetherston; brother, James Michael Ross; niece Rebecca Ross Turner (Gerald); and nephew Cdr. Michael Thomas Ross (Jennifer).
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Oberlin College (https://advance.oberlin.edu/donate).
