Rose Marie Elgin, 67, of Galloway, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle of cancer on October 14, 2023. She was born on November 8, 1956, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Samuel Oliver and Della Brown.
Rose was a very caring, loving, and giving person. She was known for her selflessness and always put others before herself. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends and cherished those moments dearly. Rose also had a passion for cooking and baking, often delighting her loved ones with delicious meals and treats. She found joy in going to the casino and playing bingo, where she shared laughter and good times with her companions.
Rose is survived by her loving daughter, Tanya Elgin (Chris Howard), and her son, Joseph Elgin (Amber Smith). She is also survived by her sister, Brenda "Penny" Oliver (Joe Curry), brother Michael (Paula) Law, sister Kathy (Doug) Toops, brother Gary (Jeanne) Law, brother Donald P Law, sister Mary Jo (Bill) Fowler, sister Denise "Angela" Oliver, and her sister, Della Rose Oliver. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Kayla Elgin, Camren Howard, and Makenna Elgin. Additionally, Rose is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard J Elgin, and her parents, Samuel Oliver and Della Brown. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Betty Oliver, her sister, Cheryl J Oliver, her brother, Timothy Oliver, and her sister, Linda Hodges.
Our family would like to give a very special thank you to the OSU James Cancer Hospital staff and Capital City Hospice team for caring for our mother during her courageous battle of cancer. Also a very special thank you to her nurse, Jason Clark for everything you did for our mother in her final days to make her transition into heaven very peaceful.
Visitation to honor and celebrate Rose's life will be held at the Schoedinger-Hilltop funeral home at 3030 W Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43204 on Wednesday Oct. 18, 2023 from 10AM to 1PM with the funeral service taking place at 1PM. The family appreciates the assistance and support provided by the staff at Schoedinger-Hilltop during this difficult time.
