Rosalie M. Leach, 87, of Upper Arlington, beloved wife of the late Donald B. Leach, died February 23, 2013 in her home at First Community Village. Also preceded in death by sisters, Betty Block and Jane Sullivan, both of Baltimore, MD.
Rosalie was born August 5, 1925 in Baltimore, MD and graduated from Mt de Chantal Visitation Academy, Wheeling, WV. After marrying and moving to Columbus, she lived in Bexley and German Village before moving to Upper Arlington in 1991.
Rosalie will be deeply missed by her daughters, Priscilla J. Leach, Lincoln, MA; and Susan L. (Paul) Madden, Newton, MA; sons, Donald B. (Jane Davis) Leach, Jr., Upper Arlington; and Kenneth A. Leach, Columbus; 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosalie will be remembered for her sense of humor and substantive contributions to many community organizations, including: Columbus Bar Association Alliance (President, 1991-92, as well as instrumental in founding The Children's Room in the Franklin County Courthouse); Sorosis Literary Society (President, 2008-09); National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution Columbus Chapter; Women's Association of Columbus Symphony, Vivace Unit; Women's Guild of Opera Columbus; Women's Board of Columbus Museum of Art; PEO Chapter AV; Buckeye Boys Ranch Sustaining Board; German Village Garten Club; Ohio Historical Village volunteer tinsmith and chair caner; West Side/Ohio Avenue Day Care Centers Association (Board President); and many Democratic political campaigns.
In addition she served as a Deputy Registrar for the State of Ohio; Vice President and Activities Coordinator for Sun Ridge Convalescent Center; and Office Administrator for Leach Law Office.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 4-7 PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, OH. A private graveside service will be held at Union Cemetery.
Contributions may be made in Rosalie's memory to the Columbus Bar Association Alliance Fund of the Columbus Bar Foundation or First Community Village Foundation.
