Roberta McClure Williams, age 78, longtime resident of Upper Arlington, lost her battle to stroke and cancer on October 7, 2024 at the OSU James Cancer center with daughter Kristen and husband Jerry by her side. Berta was born in Lewisburg OH, to parents Robert and Glenna McClare. After graduating from Lewisburg High School, Berta attended Miami University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Special Education. She retired from Columbus Public Schools after a 35 year career teaching Health and Physical Education, mostly at the elementary school level. Although Jerry and Berta were at Miami at the same time, they didn’t actually meet until Berta moved to Columbus and rented a room from Jerry’s mom, Helen. After dating, Jerry and Berta were married June 24, 1972. Their 52 year marriage was filled with fun adventures with many trips to Florida, Caribbean Islands, and lots of time spent at Bay Point on Lake Erie enjoying their condo and their 4 different boats. Over a 40 year period boating, beaches and time spent on the water at both Lake Cumberland and Lake Erie were big parts of their lives with son Jeff and daughter Kristen. The strength of their marriage was severely tested with the 1991 death of their beloved son Jeff in a bicycle/ car accident. But it survived and they were able to eventually have many more happy moments with their daughter Kristen. Roberta is survived by husband and best friend Jerry, a wonderful daughter Kristen, and special dog Riley. Also, survived by special nieces Sarah Eckegren (David) and Maggie, young (Phil) and special friend Mike Stillinger.
