Melissa Kay Dean

Melissa K. Dean, age 63, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. Melissa was born on September 29, 1958 in Columbus, Ohio to Donald Paul and Sarah Kathryn (Huffman) Crouch. She graduated from Walnut Ridge High School and Marshall University. Melissa worked in the research field as a quality control operator. Her talents were demonstrated while working at Abbott, Battelle, Roxane Labs and for the last 7 years at American Regent in New Albany, Ohio. She love to dress up, listening to music, reading and the company of all animals. She enjoyed going to comedy clubs where she could laugh out loud. Melissa will be remembered for her laugh that would catch everyone’s attention. It was like no other. It was as big as her heart and her smile would draw people in. She had the ability easily make lasting friendships. She always wanted to know what was going on in your life. Everyone who knew her will miss her dearly. Survived by her husband, Kevin W. Dean; step-son, Kevin Michael Dean; fur baby, Lu Lu Blue; brother-in-law, Thom E. Dean II; nieces, Sarah Francis Crouch and Jennifer Lynn Crouch; cousin, Robert Crouch; special friends, Brenda and Connie; her treasured work family, Sue, Phina, Amy, Lynn and many others she adored. Preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Kathryn Crouch. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 from 4-7:00 pm at Heart and Hope Funeral Home, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204 where funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 3, 2022. Entombment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society for Brain Cancer Research or Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center on Tamarack Blvd in loving memory of Melissa.
