Mary Virginia Gallen Kauffman, age 95, passed away at her home on Friday, February 10, 2012. She was born in Columbus on June 25, 1916, to the late Dr. Joseph Michael and Mary Elizabeth (Brown) Gallen. She was a graduate of St. Mary of the Springs Academy and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from The Ohio State University. As a gifted artist, she was a member of the Central Ohio Watercolor Society, the Ohio Watercolor Society, and Women’s Pallet. She was also a member of St. Catharine Church and the Columbus Country Club. Ginny cherished spending Christmas with her children and grandchildren, and the many summer family trips, especially to Eagle Bay and Cape Cod. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Myron Beecher “Mike” Kauffman, Jr.; brother, Dr. Joseph M. Gallen, Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Megan Lowder Kauffman. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Kauffman (Nicholas Normile), James Beecher Kauffman (Mary Anne Diehl), Molly Kauffman (Don) Marsh, and Andrew M Kauffman; grandchildren, Chris Norton (Kathleen Neville), Emily Norton (Casey Sand), Lauren Kauffman (Tyler) Burns, Hannah Kauffman, Mark (Monika) Westin, and David (Jodie) Westin; and great grandchildren, Brady, Michael, Jordan, Matthew, Gabriel, and Isabelle Virginia. The family wishes to recognize and thank Ginny’s wonderful caregivers for the past 6 years, Patti, Suz, Bonita, Missy, Mary, Carla, Eva, and Lynda, as well as the staff of Mount Carmel Hospice and the Eucharistic Ministers from St. Catharine Church. Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2012, at the SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL, 229 E. State St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Catharine Church, 500 S. Gould Road, Rev. Fr. Michael J. Lumpe, Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
