Mary Lee Hammond

Mary Lee Hammond, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. Mary Lee was born on September 21, 1930 in Plain City, Ohio to the late John and June (Curry) Laird. Also preceding in death was her sons John S. Hammond, Lewis Hammond and Edward Hammond. Mary Lee was a charter member and distinguished Club President of I-NEXT Kiwanis Club, where she served as a trustee and Spiritual Aims Chair for a number of years. She served as Spiritual Aims Chair for the 10w Division of the Ohio District of Kiwanis. She received a number or awards for outstanding service. Mary Lee loved fiber arts and could often be found weaving, spinning and knitting. She was a voracious reader and was an excellent cook, often growing and canning her own food. She loved to travel to the southwest of the United States, especially New Mexico and very much enjoyed her two trips abroad to Ireland. Mary Lee will be deeply missed by her loving son James Cartwright; daughter Margaret (Jerry) Burchard; granddaughters Lois (Bela) Bernhardt and Irene (Mark) Mitcheson; great-grandchildren Eva Bernhardt, Eli DeTemple, Marisa Bernhardt, Owen DeTemple, Abigal DeTemple, Ada Mitcheson, Jack Mitcheson and Mira Mitcheson. Family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Friday, September 16, 2022 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221. Funeral Service will immediately follow at 2:00pm.
