Mary Dixon, age 60, died unexpectedly on Tuesday September 22, 2009 at Dr’s West Hospital. She is preceded in death by her father, Louis Whitt. Mary is survived by her mother, Joyce Slaven; children, Christie Dixon, Jeff Dixon, Bre (Andy) Whitmer; grandchildren, Victoria, Natalie, Gavin; former husband and dear friend Jeff Dixon; brothers, David and Bud (Roylene) Whitt, special work friends, Camille, Sue and Oscar. Mary graduated from Southeastern High School near Jackson, OH, came to Columbus and worked for Ohio Bell as a phone operator, and later worked for Sears Financial which is now Citi for 37 years and had many years of perfect attendance. She was a kind and caring person who enjoyed spending time and being involved with her children and grandchildren’s lives. Mary loved Christmas and spoiling her grandchildren with many presents, liked to collect antiques, and precious moment figurines. She had a knack for picking the winner of the Kentucky Derby, but never bet on the race. Mary was a sports enthusiast with the Buckeyes and Blue Jackets as her favorites. Visitation will be held on Sunday September 27, 2009 from 3-7pm at the Chapel Hill Free Will Baptist Church 5750 Grove City Rd. where funeral service will be held on Monday September 28, 2009 at 10am with Pastor John F. Beverly officiating. Interment will be at Centerpoint Cemetery in Centerpoint, OH. Contributions may be made to the Church in Mary’s memory.
