Karen Lea Smith

Karen was a graduate of Notre Dame and a certified public accountant, but she was first and foremost the best mom, wife and friend in the entire world. Karen was a devout Catholic and lived her life accordingly.

Karen was an optimist despite her health issues, and while she prayed that she would get better, most of her prayers were for the benefit of her family and friends.

Karen was welcomed into Heaven by her daughter Courtney Lea Smith. She is survived by her husband of 34 years Greg Smith; son PJ Smith and his wife Nikki; son Evan Smith and his wife Haleigh; parents Joe and Doreen Geneser; in-laws George and Jane Smith; sister Sherri Mills and her husband Guy; sister Cindy Morris and her husband Jerry; and brother JD Geneser and his wife Tina.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday Sept. 14, 2022, at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church, located at 4475 Dublin Rd. in Hilliard, with celebrant Father Bob Penhallurick. Lunch will be served after Mass, during which time family will receive friends. A private interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery thereafter.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to NICU, c/o Nationwide Children’s Hospital, 700 Children’s Drive, Columbus, OH, 43205, in her memory.
