Joan Case was born on May 28, 1929, in Jefferson, Ohio to Charles and Hazel (nee Monroe) Case. Joan was the youngest of three siblings, following behind Janet and Stewart. Joan spent her entire childhood and adolescence in Jefferson where she played the flute and piccolo in the high school band and was a cheerleader. When she was 18, she married Vern Moody. Together they welcomed two children, Fred and Cindi.
In her 30s Joan set off to start a career. She joined Travelers Insurance as the first female agent in Ohio. She turned heads in the office when she was the first woman to wear a pants suit, rather than the traditional skirt or dress.
Joan and Vern enjoyed a life full of love, laughter, joy, and parties until his untimely passing in 1973. When she was ready to date again, Joan was introduced to Bob Kincer on a blind date, and she never looked back. They were married in 1975 and she spent the rest of her life in Bob’s loving care. The family grew when Joan and Bob married to include his son David (Karen).
In their life together, Joan and Bob welcomed 5 grandchildren into the family: Jessica (Ben), Kate, Ashlee (Brock), Cassidy, and Nick. They were joyful to meet 5 great-grandchildren as well: Cheyenne, Kyleigh, Lucas, Henry, and Oliver.
Joan was a social woman. She enjoyed events shared with the Worthington Women’s Club and looked forward to Domino nights with the girls. Joan and Bob were members of the Buckeye Miata Club. Joan was a Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Sunshine Chapter. She was an active member in the church choir and loved to sing. She enjoyed bowling and golf (she even hit a hole in one!). In their younger years, Joan and Bob could be found on the boat in Lake Erie every summer. Joan loved knitting and kept her grandchildren warm with sweaters “Specially Made by Grandma.”
Joan most loved the time spent with her family. She was happiest when sharing stories and laughs with Bob, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She could always be counted on for a hug and a back-scratch and she never missed an opportunity to say, “I love you.” She will be incredibly missed.
