James "Jim" R. McBride, age 83, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 21, 2013. He was born in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan on March 11, 1930 to the late Thomas and Viola McBride. Jim served in the United States Army during the Korean War where he drove for General McArthur. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Louis (Grace) McBride, Rita Morrison, Helen (Lawrence) Long, Marie (Bob) Beatty, and Delaney McBride. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley McBride; children, Patricia Auborn, James McBride, Dennis McBride, and Cristi (Doug) Heck; grandchildren, Michael McBride, Pamala (Steve) Barrie, Paige McBride, and Victoria, Olivia, and Dawson Heck; sister, Lynn Sweeney; and many nieces and nephews. Jim loved to garden and work on construction projects with his son. He also enjoyed watching OSU Football. He was a friendly and caring person who never met a stranger. Friends may call on Sunday, November 24, 2013 from 2:00PM-5:00PM at the SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W.
