   Although I am posting this many years after Jack's passing, I wished to offer my condolonces as well.  I first met Jack when I was working at the YMCA in Flint, Michigan. I was only 15 years old at the time (and now I'm 70), so it was 55 years ago. 

  At that time, he was the Assistant Director of the Y and eventually he became the director.  I worked at the Front Desk which was like working the front desk of a hotel, as we had 76 residence rooms.  On one boring Saturday, I played on a "party/comedy" album over the pa system which I thought was very funny at the time.  The following Monday, I got called in to his office. Somone had "ratted me out" and he gave me lecture about using the pa system appropriately.

    I remember him as a very kind and patient person and a really good boss.  One of my other front desk workers, Louise Lynn, still lives in Flint and is 91 years old.  We both have great memories of working with him (and working at the Y).

My favorite Uncle -my Uncle Jack. His quiet nature often hid his fabulous sense of humor.  He loved a good practicla joke.  I had the privilege of a professional relationship with Uncle Jack in that my first wo jobs out of college were as an Aquatic and Physical Director with fist the Lima, OH YMCA and then the Sewickley, PA YMCA. Both YMCAs were in his district.  Everyone in the YMCA family knew and loved Jack  and I was always proud to say that he was my Uncle. My heart is breaking for Aunt Lois and the entire Doughty family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. He is up there with my mom now, and I just know she is showing him the ropes.

When I was Pastor Parish chairman at Good Shepherd Jack gave me good counsel.  I always valued his advice and cherished his friendship.  And he loved to laugh!

It is rare that an individual reflects the Mission and Phiolosphy of an institution as well as Jack did. He was a great leader, boss, family man, and values oriented person. Folks like Jack come along very rarely in our life. God Bless.

I did not know Mr. Doughty, but I lost my identical twin sister, my eternal best friend,recently. If Ms. Cline, his twin, needs a great support group, www.twinlesstwins.org offers solace for lone twins. I recommend it. They really "get it", how hard the birthday is without your twin to share it.

Lois and Family,  Donnajean and I extend sincere sympathy to you as you mourn the loss of Jack Doughty.  I have many wonderful memories of Jack through the YMCA.  Jack was a great National Staff leader.  Whenever you called Jack, you knew that he would call back in a timely manner and you would get helpful information.  Jack had a great smile and a firm handshake and when you met him at a meeting or a conference you would get both.  Jack also always made sure that you were introduced to anyone in the group that you might not know.  I have fond memories of attending Jack's retirement party in Columbus and listening to the many speakers who praised Jack as a great Y professional.  I really enjoyed the video from Lou Holtz on that occassion.  
  When Jack retired, the Y lost an outstanding servant leader.  With his passing, many of us have lost a great friend.   Dennis Ruble  Sidney, Ohio

Camping with the family.  He loved station wagons for some reason a 10 year old could not comprehend.  The fake wood on the side was the best.  Backyard football at the house.  Hiding in their dryer, all good memories of the Doughty house.

My favorite memories of Jack include his special gift of hospitality.  He always made everyone in my family feel welcome and wanted as a part of his own family. We loved being at his kids' weddings, graduations, family reunions, whatever the opportunity, Jack and his perfectly matched wife, Lois, were the most gracious, delightful hosts.
My husband Jack's favorite memory is the story of Lou Holtz heading toward the front table of  highschool award banquet prematurely anticipating his name when Jack Doughty was named instead for an outstanding athletic award at East Liverpool High School.
