Helen "June" Bergman

Helen "June" Bergman, cherished mother and grandmother, age 89, of Galloway, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 15, 2014. She was adored and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her. She was born in Greenville, Ohio on October 16, 1925 to the late Cornelius and Vernie Schmidt. She retired from the State of Ohio Board of Regents after many years of dedicated service. She was a founding member of Birthright of Columbus. June was a very active member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church where she worked with the St. Vincent DePaul Society, the bereavement committee, the parish festival committee, RCIA, and the garden committee where she was known as the "flower lady". She was nominated for Catholic Woman of the Year in 2008. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert "Bill" Bergman; infant son, Joel Bergman; granddaughter, Rachel; daughter in-law, Kathryn Bergman; and many siblings. June is survived by her children, Michael Bergman, Jill (William) Nichols, Joseph (Delane) Bergman, Jane (Andrew) Gray, Anne (Luke) Barga, and David (Andrea) Bergman; grandchildren, Benjamin, Rebecca, Caiti, Christopher Chad, Kaelah, Caitlin, Meghan, Hannah, Nathan, and Garett; great grandchildren, Amelia, Blake, Daniel, Wyatt, and Victoria; sisters, Ruth Welbaum and Jean Longfellow; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 2:00PM-5:00PM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 5:00PM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 434 Norton Road, Columbus, Ohio 43228. Fr. Craig Eilerman, celebrant. Fr. Leo Connolly and Fr. Jan Sullivan, concelebrants. Entombment will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 10:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 6440 S. High St., Lockbourne, Ohio 43137. In lieu of flowers donations in June's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 471 E. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
