Gary Lee Sparks

Gary Lee Sparks, age 78, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 12, 1939 in Canton, Ohio to the late, Fred and Grace (Brown) Sparks. Gary proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 until 1959. He then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp where he served during the Vietnam War from 1960 until 1968. Gary was not only a hero to his country, he was a hero to his wife, children and grandchildren. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Gordon Sparks. Gary is survived by loving wife of 54 years, Karen (Swinford) Sparks; children, Daniel (Yvonne), John, Kevin (Lynn) and Laurie (Ray) Dennison; grandchildren, Megan, Lauren, Sage and Scout; siblings, Greg (Jan), Gene (Nancy), Gloria (Fred) Steffen and Gale Lombardi; uncle, Donald Sparks; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family. Family will receive friends Friday, March, 9, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, where a funeral service will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. Private family interment will take place at Dayton National Cemetery at a later date.
