Dorothy Rupp Zimmerman, age 92, died on August 13, 2012. Beloved wife, mother, and Granny. Lifelong sweetheart of Richard S. Zimmerman, who predeceased her by 10 years. Mother of Lynda, Ric and Dan, grandmother of Shalie, Tom, Newt, April, Sam, Tod, Courtney, Elizabeth, and Alana, and great-grandmother of 19. Her life mission was loving and caring for her husband. She was fiercely protective of her brood, earning her the nickname Pit Bull Granny. Pity the umpire or referee that made the wrong call. Her parents were Irene and Carl Rupp. She often said that she was lucky to have had such wonderful parents, and that her husband had returned from war. She was an only child, and marveled at how her family had grown. She lived her life in Clintonville, and was a graduate of North High School. She lived at Henderson and Olentangy River Road for 60 years, providing a stable presence and lots of useful advice for all. She was a talented ballet dancer who studied for many years with Jorg Fasting. She played tennis until double knee replacement forced her off the court at the age77. On her84th birthday, surrounded by great-grandchildren, she jumped off the tower at Olympic Pool. She as the embodiment of feminine strength.
