Donna M. Gepfert

Donna M. Gepfert, 91, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on Sunday October 8, 2023 at First Community Village, in Columbus, Ohio. She was born and raised in Rochester, NY. Donna received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio. It was there that she met the love of her life, Don Gepfert, and married him in 1954, shortly after graduation. They then spent a brief period of time in Ft. Benning, GA before moving back to Ohio, eventually settling in Upper Arlington. Donna was a supportive spouse and mother, who together with Don provided love, care and guidance for each other and their families. Her skills, talents and passions led her in several directions throughout life. She was a preschool teacher at First Community Church, and then went on to create a successful Christmas Boutique business. In her later years she enjoyed tennis, golf, and painting; primarily oil and watercolors on canvas. Donna is pre-deceased by her parents Arden and Gertrude Babbitt of Rochester, NY; husband of 61 years, Don, sister Betty of Canandaigua NY; a sister- in- law, and a son- in-law. She is survived by her children Debra Showe, Cindy Sue Gepfert, Robert Gepfert; grandchildren Collin (fiancé Missy), Diandra (Wade), Alex (Samantha) and Lauren; as well as relatives in the states of New York and Georgia. The family is grateful for the care and support provided by the staff of First Community Village over the last several years. Memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at First Community Church – South Campus, 1320 Cambridge Boulevard, Columbus, Ohio 43212. Visitation will follow from 12-2 PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221.
