Donald Ray Riddle

Donald R. "Don" Riddle, age 85, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017 in Columbus, Ohio. Don was born on June 18, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Floyd Riddle and Virginia (Beltz) Mahwirter. Don was a 1949 graduate of Central High School. He served in the Air Force and was stationed in San Antonio, TX, Seattle, WA and Harrisburg PA. He retired after 40 years from working at Columbia Gas as a pipe fitter. Don was an avid OSU Buckeyes fan. He enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and playing many sports including golf, softball and bowling. After retirement, he became busy with building model wooden sailing ships. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Roberta; children, Betty Green. Sharon (Thom) Ammar, Eric (Carmen) Riddle, Dhana Brown and Jana (Freddy) Graessle; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his daughters, Donna Riddle and Julie Ligon; sister, Dolores Rea; and brother, Floyd Wayne Riddle. Family will receive friends 5-7 PM on Monday, March 20, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, where family will also receive friends from 10 AM until time of service. Interment at Union Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Community Village Foundation, 1800 Riverside Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43212.
