Daniel Joseph Mitchell

Daniel J. Mitchell, age 76, passed away on October 19, 2020 in Columbus. He was born on April 11, 1944. Dan is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy (Spires) Mitchell; their children, Bob (Dennette), Susie (Doug) Wilson, Tom (Tammy), and Joseph (Tricia); his much loved grandchildren, Alex (Elyssa), David, Jessie, Rachel, Cara Wilson, Darcy, Autumn, RaeAnna, Manny, Max, Lincoln, Oliver/Kristen, and Tarrisa; his siblings, Martha, Joan, Patsy (John), Mark (Cathy), Steve (Pam), Marty (Colleen), Joyce (Rick) Janczak, and Paul, and in-laws Sharon Mitchell, Ellen Fox, Peggy Neihaus, and Bill Spires. He is preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Jane Mitchell; siblings, Janice Lisle and Jerome Mitchell; in-laws, William and Rosemary Spires, Marv Lisle, Brian Farrell, Mark Montgomery, Ron Drake, Rosemary Crego, Mike Spires, and grandson Nicklas Wilson.

Dan was a devoted Christian who loved his family. He was a graduate of Saint Charles Preparatory School and attended The Ohio State University. He worked many places including Murfin Co., his father-in-law's Marathon and Shell stations, the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, Rock's Trailer Sales, Peabody Landscaping, and the GM plant. The joy of his life was his family. He helped everyone with everything--roofs, plumbing, carpentry, computers, and fixing their cars. He was a builder of many things: Tom's house, engines, a greenhouse, a forge, and a "7-Dan" swing set. Dan loved gardening, pigs, and fireworks! Ever inquisitive and curious, Dan constantly engaged in research and learning. His happiest moments were spent with his children, their spouses, and his grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 10am-12pm at Leave a Mark Church, 4818 Parsons Ave, Columbus, OH 43207. A memorial service will begin at 12pm. A procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery in Lockbourne, Ohio.
