Catherine T. "Kate" Sheffield

Catherine T. “Kate” Sheffield, age 92, of Hedgesville, West Virginia and formerly a longtime resident of Groveport, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024 in Martinsburg, West Virginia. She was born August 31, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late Joseph and Gladys (Skarren) Maraugha. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, who will be sorely missed by her children, Diane Adams, Marvin (Peggy) Fry, John (Debi) Sheffield; 8 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Dennis (Debbie) Maraugha and Greg (Anita) Maraugha; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews and many friends. Besides her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her husband, Idus P. Sheffield; her daughter, Shelda Rothe and brothers and sisters, Joseph, William, Ronald (Butch), Phillip, Robert, Richard, Barbara and Carol Maraugha. She was a former active member of Parsons Avenue Church of God, where she was attended Sunday services and Wednesday bible study. She loved sewing, knitting and crocheting and very spiritual with her meditations and devotions. Funeral Service will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, January 20, 2024 at SCHOEDINGER EAST, 5360 E. Livingston Avenue, Columbus, OH 43232, where friends may call after 10:00 am Saturday until time of service. Interment to follow Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to an American Diabetes Association chapter, in Catherine’s name.
