Catherine J. O'Hara

Catherine J. O’Hara, age 80, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022, with her family by her side. Catherine was born in Columbus, Ohio, on December 31, 1941, to the late Cecil and Hester (Franklin) Blackburn. Also preceding in death was her first husband Dennis; and second husband James Boggs. Cathy dearly loved them both.

Catherine was raised on the west side of Columbus and attended high school at Holy Rosary. After marrying, she and Dennis settled on the East side of Cleveland and raised a family in Mentor. Dennis and Cathy enjoyed many years together until Dennis’ early passing in 1987. Afterward, Cathy dedicated her life to helping her children heal. She moved her family back to Columbus and started a new life, eventually finding the second love of her life, Jim.

Cathy spent most of her life as a homemaker and a beloved mother. She fiercely loved her family, beaches, Mickey Mouse and bird watching. She kept her children together and taught them what it meant to love one another. She was a feisty protector of the family and was kind and generous. She left a legacy of sharing and always placed her loved ones before herself. She will be forever missed by her children: Colleen O’Hara (Tony Inskeep), Susan (Doug) Walouke, Mary Beth (Edward) Maceyko, and Michael (Veronica) O’Hara; Jim’s children: Mike (Robin) Boggs, Patrick Boggs, and Cathleen (Tom) Utgard; Grandchildren: Shannon, Meg, Abby, Maddy, Merissa, Julia, and Finnegan Dennis, Judson, Nick Kelly, Anne, Emily, Alexander, Brendan and her little companion Carly.

A Memorial Service will be held on her 81st birthday at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221.
