Annie “Nan” Spence, age 90, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Sterling, Scotland on June 17, 1932, the eldest daughter of the late Charles Stark and Janet (Wilson) Stark.
Annie retired from Columbus Mutual Life Insurance Company after 20+ years of service as a Senior Accounting Clerk. She was a member, and past President of The Daughters of Scotland, and Member of the Mid-Ohio Scottish Heritage Association. Annie received her U.S. citizenship in 2005, while maintaining her British Citizenship of her precious homeland, Scotland.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 51 years, Douglas Spence; and sister Agnes (Alan) Blaik of Edinburgh, Scotland.
She is survived by her sisters, Catherine Powers of Gahanna, Ohio; Mary Reynolds and Margaret (Brian) Duff of Edinburgh, Scotland; daughters, Janet E. (Gary) Spence-Smith and Catherine M. Miller; grandchildren, Steven D. Spence, Kelsey J. Ford, Staci K. Miller and Kyle D. Miller; and her most precious great-grandchildren Ryen Spence, Zoey M. Hughes, and Braeden Johnson.
She is treasured by her niece, Kim (Mike) Ancona; nephews, Steven (Diane) Powers, John Powers, Jerry (Joan) Powers, and Christopher (Jennifer) Powers; along with many loving nieces, nephews, and friends from around the world.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00pm on Monday, May 22, 2023 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 433221.
