Tillie Marie Henderson Talkington

She was born in Bartholomew County, Indiana, the daughter of Cecil Henderson Sr. and Edna French Henderson. She married Robert D. Talkington Sr. on August 7, 1943, and they enjoyed 56 years together.

She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Tillie was a loving wife and mother. She formerly worked at Arvin Industries, had been an interior decorator for Sears-Roebuck in Columbus, and had worked at Rockcreek School on State Road 46, Amick’s Restaurant and Broad Acres Restaurant in North Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Dale Talkington; her parents; her husband, Robert Dale Talkington Sr.; a brother, Cecil Henderson Jr.; sisters, Mary Daily and Minnie Burton; and a stepson, Daniel Smith,

She is survived by and will be missed by her present husband, Gerald Smith, whom she married Dec. 20, 2001, in Columbus; sons, Robert (Sandra) Talkington Jr. of Burnsville, IN, and Ronald (Ruth) Talkington of Scipio, IN; daughters, Patricia (Maurice) Haymaker of Columbus and Karen (Robert) Weales of Columbus, IN; a sister, Ina Nicholas of Stillwell, OK; stepsons, Jeffrey (Donna) Smith of Edinburgh, IN, Paul (Shelia) Smith of Columbus and Mike Moffatt of Columbus; stepdaughters, Barbara Bragg of Columbus, Susie Wetzel of Columbus and Pam (Tom) Lanham of Taylorsville, IN.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street with David Burnett of Waynesburg Christian Church officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be Bear Creek Cemetery southeast of Grammer, IN.
