Shirley Pearl Powers, 87, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Majestic Healthcare in North Vernon. Shirley was born March 30, 1936 in Glasgow, Kentucky to parents Emmitt Lee and Emma Lucille Wilcurt.
Shirley was a homemaker raising nine children. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. Her children and grandchildren lovingly remember her for her “feisty” personality.
Shirley is survived by her children, Bonnie (Randy) Nicholas-Peaslee, Mary (Roger) Hunter, Patricia Spencer, Rebecca Powers, Barbara (David) Miller, Tammy McLellan, and Sherry Anderson; and 20 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Powers; and two children, Vicky Nicholas and Roger Powers.
A graveside service for Shirley will be held Thursday, April 20 at 1 p.m. at Garland Brook Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Interim Healthcare Hospice of Jeffersonville, Indiana.
