She was born September 15, 1924 at the family farm in Keene, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Frank W. and Lillie Clara Sundeen Jones. Alice graduated from Miltonvale Wesleyan College, Miltonvale, KS and Minot State Teachers College, Minot, ND. She was married 52 years to the late Rev. William D. Gale. On May 1, 1961 she acquired four stepchildren, David Duane Gale (deceased), Alice Elisabeth Gale Churchill, Corona, CA, Donald James Gale, (deceased) and Aleta Gale Crail, Monroe WI.
Alice’s entire life was spent in service to others. She was an educator, pastor’s wife and missionary. She assisted her husband in compiling 6 books on Native Americans, their families and their faith. Her service, alongside her husband, was with the American Indian Natives, the Latin American Bible Institute and the Philippine Bible Methodist College, and the Philippine population. For some 55 years, she spent her life in service to the Lord through these works. In 1978, an American Indian (Ottawa) Mother bestowed the title of “Pretty Cloud” to their beloved Alice. Alice has attended the Shelbyville Bible Holiness Church in recent years.
Survivors include: her daughters, Alice Elisabeth (Donald-deceased) of Corona, CA and Aleta Faith Crail (Steve) of Monroe WI, and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Masden Gale of Richmond KY; six grandchildren: Mechele Jacobs, Donald Churchill II, Justin Blue, Del Blue, Heather Gale, and Michael Gale; nine great-grandchildren: Alexandra and Justin Churchill, Breanna and Landen Cox, Garland Blue, Hayden and Brysen Farthing, James Gale, and Madelynn Gale; and siblings: David Jones (Iva-deceased) Keene, ND, Ralph Jones (Frankie) Portland OR, and Lavonne Jones Hartel (Duane) Williston, ND.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Vernon and Donald, sisters Edith Jones McIntyre, Irene Jones LaFollette; Her husband, Rev. William Duane Gale, sons Donald James Gale, and David Duane Gale.
Visitation will be from 10:30am to 12pm at the Shelbyville Bible Holiness Church, 2911 E. Michigan Road, Shelbyville IN. The funeral service will be 12 noon at the Shelbyville Bible Holiness Church with Pastor Joseph Smith officiating. The service will be live streamed: www.shelbybhc.com. Due to Covid-19, masks are required.
