Mr. William “Bill” Watts Chapman, age 69, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2011. Memorial services will be held at Cascade Hills Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 2:00 PM with visitation to be held after the service, at the church.
Mr. Chapman was born on October 3, 1941 to the late William Thomas Chapman and Catharine Spinks Chapman in Russell County, AL. He attended Georgia Southwestern State University as well as the University of Georgia. Mr. Chapman was a member of the Optimist Club, the Columbus Quarterback Club, the Georgia Tire Dealers Association and the National Tire Dealers Association. He was the owner of Tire King and had been in the tire business for over 40 years. Mr. Chapman was a simple man who enjoyed the little pleasures in life. He had many wonderful friends and acquaintances that he loved, including his childhood friends from Manchester, GA. Mr. Chapman was an avid Atlanta Braves and University of Georgia Bulldog fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Paulette “Polly” Chapman of Columbus; two sons, Todd Chapman of Franklin, TN and Kyle Chapman of Orlando, FL; two daughters, Christina Wright of Orange County, CA and Toni DeAngela Bishop of Smiths Station, AL; a step-son, Joey Brown of Columbus; eight grandchildren; a brother, George Chapman (Sue) of Harris County, GA; two sisters, Gail Galloway (William) of Garfield Heights, OH and Lynn Spence of Columbus; several nieces and nephews also survive.
