Wanda Diane Payne-Watford, age 62 of Columbus, GA, passed away March 9, 2018. A celebration of Wanda’s life will be held on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 11:00 am at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. Burial will be in Parkhill Cemetery.
Wanda was born on July 9, 1956 in Phenix City, AL; the daughter of Earnest Rudolph Payne and Jettie Lou Williamson, Jettie married Gene Watford and he adopted Wanda. She graduated from Jordan High School, then attended and graduated from Auburn University and later attended Phillips College for Accounting.
Loving, caring, and forgiving are three attributes that best describe Wanda. She lived her life to the fullest; she was an avid reader, especially novels; she loved to cheer on her Auburn Tigers; she enjoyed good conversation with a good cup of coffee, of course it was decaf.; her pets held a special place in her heart they were her children especially her dog Bella and her cats Kate and Allie; and you could always count on her for a good laugh, sometimes laughing uncontrollably as she told the story or joke. She taught us so much, how to love unconditionally; to tell the people you love, that you love them; and what it meant to be a true friend.
Wanda is preceded in death by: Rudolph Payne; her adopted father, Gene Watford; a nephew Ronald “Ronnie” Payne Jr. Survivors include: her mother Jettie Watford; two brothers Ronald (Lynda) Payne Sr., Mike (Deidre) Watford; a nephew John Michael Watford; a niece Michelle Payne, aunt Betty Sims, and two cousins Lorraine Beaver and Candice Beaver.
