Vela Mae Ramsey

Vela Mae Ramsey, 79, passed away on January 25, 2013.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA.  Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery.  The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4:00 – 6:00 PM.  The family will also greet friends at Mrs. Ramsey’s residence.

Mrs. Ramsey was born September 17, 1933 in Barbour County, AL.  She was an active member of Central Baptist Church, where she attended Sunday school and was also a member of the WMU organization.  Mrs. Ramsey was retired from the Muscogee County School District Nutrition Department, after 23 years of service.  She enjoyed baking and work outside in her garden.  Mrs. Ramsey also loved spending time with her family.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank R. Ramsey.

Survivors include her two daughters, Janet Cabezas and her husband, Anibal of Phenix City, AL and Melinda Stockdaile and her husband, Benny of Columbus, GA; four grandchildren, Yolanda East and her husband, Mike, Manuel Cabezas and his wife, Sandi, Burt Stockdaile and Melisha Plemons and her husband, Matthew; eleven great-grandchildren, Courtney, Amber, Vince, Brittney, Will, Matthew, Zachary, Madison, Brooklyn, Brian and Blake; two great-great-grandchildren, Landon and Michael; a sister, Avis Harris of Phenix City, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
