A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 12 noon in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Savannah, Georgia.
She was born on August 4, 1935 in Register, Georgia to the late Bertha Akins Fordham and H.E. Fordham. Ruth was married to the late Joseph B. Eitel, Jr. She was Christian by faith and a member of Pooler First Baptist Church in Pooler, Georgia. Ruth loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a great cook and seamstress. She held various jobs over the years including Sears, Chatham County Tag Office and Pooler and Hess Elementary Schools where she made lifelong friends. Ruth will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her especially her family.
She is survived by her daughters: Connie (Gary) Reynolds of Columbus, GA, Kim (Loften) Carr of Alpharetta, GA, and Lori Zimbro of Kernersville, NC; son, Joseph B. “Trey” (Caitlin) Eitel III of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren: Jason (Melissa) Reynolds, Justin (Catherine) Reynolds, Elizabeth (Greg) Miller, Joseph Carr, Rachel Zimbro, Aidan Eitel, Andrew Eitel, and Ashlyn Eitel; great grandchildren: Colton Reynolds, Madilyn Reynolds, Hallie Reynolds, and Harper Reynolds; her brother, Herbert Jasper Fordham; and several nieces, nephews and other family members.
