Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at Evangel Church on Friday, February 10, at 2pm with visitation from 1-2pm at the church. Reverend Bud Rupel and Paul Thomas will be officiating.
Ron was born on April 29,1944, in Duncan, Oklahoma. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, February 6th at the age of 78. After graduating High School, Ron attended Oklahoma University and was then drafted into the U.S. Army. He was a decorated Vietnam Veteran and made Columbus his home in 1971 when he married Bonetia. He later graduated from Columbus College with a degree in accounting. He was the founder of Capital Tax Management in Columbus, Georgia which includes many locations throughout the Southeast. Ron was loved and respected by his many employees. He was well known for his generosity in his business and throughout the community. Ron coached football, baseball and softball at Northern Little League and later coached football at Pacelli High School. He had a passion for restoring cars but his greatest love was his family. He was a devoted husband, brother, father and Pa-Pa.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother and father Paul and Comilla Collier, his sister Paulla Kaye Collier and his loving wife of 50 years, Bonetia Thomas.
Those left to cherish his memories are his children Ron Thomas, Jr. (Kim), Paul Thomas (Pam), Thomas Duncan (Lyndee), April Gilbert (Jarrell). His Grandchildren Amanda Tucker (Ross), Clay Thomas (Olivia), Jared Thomas, Shawn Thomas, Laine Duncan, Jesse Gilbert, and Lewis Duncan, His Great Grandchildren Benny and Owen Tucker. Other treasured family members Gwen Guest, Kip Pruitt (Charlotte), Bryson Pruitt, John O’Hern (Carla), Michael and Patrick O’Hern, and Connie O’Hern, Kathryn Rhodes and Nancy Hinckley.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital, Piedmont and Columbus Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in his honor, to Columbus Hospice or Evangel Church.
