Columbus, Georgia- Robert Charles King, age 70, resident of Columbus, died on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Midtown Medical Center. Funeral Services are scheduled in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus, on Saturday, January 3, 2015, 11:00am with interment to follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 2, 2014 from 4:00-6:00pm. Honorary pallbearers will include Mr. King's friends at Georgia Power Company.
Mr. King, son of Frances Bradley King Lolley and the late William Harrison King, was born May 7, 1944 in Columbus, Georgia. He was a graduate of Jordan High School in 1962. Mr. King attended and graduated with his Masters Degree from Troy State University, where he was an active member of their Alumni for many years. He began working at Georgia Power Company in 1967 where he worked as an Engineering Representative for 41 years, retiring in April of 2009. Mr. King was a former President of Kiwanis, an avid golfer, and a member of North Highland Assembly of God. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and exceptional grandfather to his four grandchildren.
Mr. King is preceded in death by his father, and brother, William Laurence King. He is survived by his wife, Peggy King; mother, Frances King Lolley; sister, Sue Dalelio; children, Kristin Childs, Kayce King; grandchildren, Bailey Childs, Charleigh Childs, Logan Bowers, Landon Bowers; nieces; nephews; Jennifer Dugard, and other extended family.
